More Green cars for UK
The UK car market is bracing up for more green cars from the automakers. Coupled with the increasingly exorbitant rising price of car fuel, the increasing demand for green cars in UK (and also the world) is displaying a prominent trend from transfer of fossil fuel cars to hybrid electric cars. Nissan recently launched its eco friendly electric vehicle, the Leaf in the UK market and the company states that it already has 550 standing orders from the UK market. Apart from Nissan, other developments in this field are also happening quite fast. Keeping up with the trend of Green cars, Kia recently announced to expand its green car portfolio in the UK market by introducing a hybrid version of Kia Optima executive model and an all electric Kia Venga small MPV. However, none of these cars are currently available in the UK market as they are under development at their South Korean manufacturing unit. The company states that the Kia Optima hybrid will be the first to be launched in the UK market, possibly by late next year. The hybrid model is currently being rolled out in the US market with a hybrid drive force of 30 kw electric motor and a 2.4 litre petrol engine. Senior Kia research engineer C Y Jeong stated that Kia plans to start marketing hydrogen fuel electric vehicles by 2015, in line with many other car manufacturers doing the same. Guess the days of fossil fuel are really at end.
